I'm not that great at moving. My stuff always seems to multiply once the boxes come out, (right? how does that happen!?) and it's a strange feeling to intentionally dismantle my (semi-)organized life for a few weeks. But I'm sure you know if you've ever moved that there's that one piece of artwork that makes it your space. And once it's up on the wall, everything else starts to look like it belongs there, too.
In high school, it was my scotch tape collages of Rolling Stone celebrities and Absolut ads. (Don't act like you didn't do it, too.) In college, it was a black and white poster that each of my girlfriends had a copy of when we went off to school.
Now, it's this painting, by this local Raleigh artist. I love it.
I even got a red couch with it in mind because I knew it'd look so damn good hanging above it. And next time I move, it'll be the first thing I put on the wall to remind me I'm home.
